Valley Mission

The Shenandoah Valley’s longest operating private homeless shelter, Valley Mission has provided shelter, support, and hope to our local community’s most vulnerable constituents since 1971. Our history is rooted in a love of Christ and a commitment to share that love with others, at a time when they need our love the most.

Open Doors

Open doors engages the Harrisonburg community and Rockingham county in partnership to provide shelter, compassionate support and access services for people who are experiencing homelessness.

Harris Gardens: Subsidized Housing

Located in Harrisonburg, Virginia, Harris Gardens Apartments is a comfortable family community. Rent can be as low as $25 per month depending on income. Utilities (water, gas, electric, trash & sewer) are included.

First Step: Emergency Shelter for Victims of Domestic Violence and their Families

First step is committed to providing free and confidential service to survivors of intimate partner or relationship violence who have experienced economic, physical, sexual, psychological, emotional, and/or verbal abuse, including but not limited to controlling behavior, isolation, threats, intimidation, gaslighting, stalking and dating violence.

Centralized Housing intake: Households Experiencing Homelessness

This is the centralized entry point to services for households who are homeless or are at risk of homelessness in the City of Harrisonburg.

Salvation Army

The Salvation Army is committed to serving people, changing one life at a time. Our diverse ministries attract a wide variety of participants and supporters, from single parents needing help to dedicated volunteers seeking meaningful outlets for service to philanthropists and charitable foundations wanting to contribute to their community.

The Salvation Army family services and emergency shelters serves single men and women, as well as families who are in need of help during a time of crisis.

Bridge of Hope

Bridge of Hope trains and equips local Christian faith communities (churches, Bible study groups, house churches, etc.) from a wide variety of Christian traditions to respond to homelessness in practical, tangible, and neighboring ways.
